My new brother. By Porter - Nov 26, 2010

I think he's a new brother? I dunno, he's a funny looking dog. Momma says he's a cat, but he doesn't look like sister at ALL. Oh, and he has a brother too, but I don't really like him, cause he hits me on the head and says mean things to me. Anyways, my favourite new brother is called Zazzles, and my not so favourite new brother is called Bazinga. I think momma named him that becuase he goes "ZIIIiinnnnng!" when he jumps from the floor to her shoulder all at once. If he was a dog, he'd be in REALLY REALLY big trouble for doing that! So, momma stole my winter pictures, so I thought I'd share about my new brother.

Anyways, when they first arrived, I was kinda scared of them. They were mean and swore at me and stuff. So then, when Zazzles started feeling better and wanted to hang out with the cool kids (us dogs), I was a bit concerned.

Image
This is Zazzles trying to snuggle with me. My head got cut off cuase momma was sitting too close. I was still kinna scared of him.

Image
So then! He went over to say Hi to Cat (the dog...this gets so confusing!). I guess he figured she would love him cause they have something in common. She was curious...

Image
But he was WAY too forward! Cat is a lady, she doesn't like to move so quickly in a relationship.

Image
So she left. Now she doesn't mind him, but she doesnt' want to spend time that she doesnt' have to wtih him. Actually both the spotty dogs are like that. Me and momma-Impulse. We LOVE the kitties! Zazzles is MY kitty, Impulse is still trying to teach Zing the rules (ie that she rules and not him). That lesson is a hard one to teach.

Image
This is Bazinga...can't you just TELL that he's a meanie?

Image
He even steals my heat register. I mean *everyone* in the house knows it's MY heat register!

Image
I sometimes give Zazzles special permission to use it. See, he's even leaving room for me.

Image
And in return I somtimes get to snuggle with Zazzles in his spot beside the computer.

Okay, for the next pics, I TOLD momma to move the flashlight DAYS ago. And..it's not my fault I look like a ragamuffin with stupid hair hanging off my tail. It's my MOMMA'S fault! I have no thumbs (again, momma's fault), so I can't use the thinning shears myself now can I?

Image
Most of all, me and Zazz like to play. I call this move the "brain squeeze". Momma didn't used to let me do it, but then she heard Zazzles purring, so she says it's okay and he can fend for himself. I'm really really gentle when I do it, his head is already pretty skinny.

Image
Oof! he got me, and pulled me to the floor!

Image
Uh oh, I think I'm losing this battle!

Image
Truce?

Image
NEVER! I squish him into the mat!

Image
And then we give each other a little hug.

I still play with Cat (the dog), and my uncle Turner, and I can even get momma-Impulse going pretty good! Now I just have a new friend to play with!

Things I've learned.

A note from the momma. Porter's dad, Argus was hit by a car Nov 4, 2010 after our gate was forced open by someone and the dogs got out. His injuries were too severe and he had to be euthanized once we got to the vet. The dogs here really had a hard time adjusting, and experienced some symptoms of traumatic stress, likely due to seeing the accident happen, and hearing him after. This is Porter's story a few days later.

Dear Aussieboarders. I miss my poppa really lots. Momma and momma-Impulse miss him really lots too. When I get really sad, momma grabs me and gives me a really big hug and a kiss. I do the same for her, but sometimes I just lay on her lap for a long time and let her pet me while we watch TV.

I thought I would share a few things that I learned from my poppa.

Image
He taught me how to explore on the beach.

Image
He taught me how to enjoy a sunny day.

Image
He taught me how to be brave in the scary waves.

Image
He taught me to never grow up and always have fun.

Image
He taught me to always have a smile on my face.
Image

Image
He taught me how to sleep upside down (an important one for hot summer nights).
Image

Image
But most of all...he taught me how much momma loves us.

I have to run and give momma a hug now.
